Workshop 1: 

UNDERSTANDING MANGROVE USES, USERS AND LINKAGES IN THE KLANG ISLANDS

This first workshop is one of the deliverables for the research project at Premiere Hotel, Klang on 14th June 2017.

 

The five objectives for this workshop were to;

1) understand the importance and usage of mangroves to stakeholders at various scales (state, district, local)

2) identify the direct and indirect stakeholders who may impact or be impacted by mangroves,

3) identify the current state of mangrove usage in Klang Islands

4) capture any issues regarding the different roles and uses of mangroves

5) identify the concerns, conflict and interactions among the stakeholders about these different interests at various scales.

 

The workshop was designed to mainly focus on uses and users of mangroves in the Klang Islands. Therefore, all the participants that were invited to the workshop were directly related to the study site. This included participants representing stakeholders from governmental agencies, non-governmental agency and also the fishing community. Below is the list of participants that attended the workshop:-
